Our primary role is simple: to support the school in whatever way we can in order to help it continue to flourish. This might be by assisting at a school function, arranging fundraising events, or being on hand to welcome parents on the New Intake Day.
The PTFA’s tasks are many and varied. During school function, such as Speech or Sports Days, the PTFA are on hand to prepare and provide refreshments to our guests and parents. There are cups of tea to pour, burgers and bacon rolls to distribute and, on Speech Day, pots of jam and cream to prepare prior to the inevitable rush for refreshments during the intermission. The PTFA are who you’ll meet as you choose the food and drink you’d like.
To do this, we rely solely on volunteers. These might include parents who give up an hour or two out of their daily routine; past parents; friends of the school, who share our love for Chartfield and want to continue to make a difference; even children of the staff, some former Chartfield pupils themselves, who volunteers (or are volunteered!) on those special occasions when additional support is required to keep things running smoothly.
Second are the fundraising events, some of which you may have attended prior to, or during the time your child attended Chartfield. Every July and December we run the PTFA Summer and Christmas Fairs. These are a perfect occasion for parents, friends and members of the public to meet and experience the school themselves.
Additional fundraising events also include evenings like a Quiz Night or Psychic Night, which help to raise extra funds and allow parents and staff to interact in a more relaxed setting.
Lastly are the PTFA nights out, which are always fun evenings in which the Committee let their hair down and enjoy one anothers company after a job well done.
