Mrs Brown will get prizes for the Treasure/Dinosaur Island.

Mrs Holland has arranged for an old fashioned ‘sweets man’ to attend the fair. Miss Hamlin’s friend will ask whether a burger van is available for the day, and get back to Miss Shipley.

Mrs Brown volunteered her gazebo to put outside, which will serve as a Refreshments tent – in addition to housing the Cake Stall and Booty Jars. Miss Hamlin will bring the sound system and provide karaoke as an event – 50p to £1 per go were suggested prices.

Mrs Calcutt has raffle tickets for the Tombola and Booty Jars. The PTFA will come after school on Friday 30th June to begin to set up; if incomplete, they will return at 10am on the day to complete setting the setup.
It was decided that entrance to the Fair would be 50p for a child, and £1 for an adult. This would include tea and squash. 100 numbers will be sold at £1 each, with prizes coming in the form of M&S, Smyths and supermarket vouchers.

Miss Shipley wondered if the PTFA might like ‘characters’ to attend. Miss Hamlin will provide these characters for a ‘Meet the Character’ stall with a photograph taken. Elsa, Spider-Man and Olaf were put forward as characters, with a suggested price of £2-3.

Painting wooden/ceramic items has been suggested as the crafts event, though it will depend on price. Hobbycraft suggested, and Miss Dyett offered her discount.

It was suggested that the dance group from school put on a performance for the parents. Miss Shipley will talk to Courtney.

There will be a leaflet drop again this year, with the older children visiting the local roads.

Mrs Brown will provide big prices, in addition to smaller ones and sweets. Mrs Butcher will donate duck whistles as prizes and will bring additional bits for Mrs Brown.

Miss Shipley will look into putting an A3 poster on the railings as additional advertising for the event.

Rota for selling tickets:
– Mrs Milham: Monday/Wednesday afternoons

  • Ms Beranova: Friday morning/afternoon (30th)

Mrs Horsley also offered her time.

New Intake Day – Wednesday 14th June 2017

PTFA members will attend  at 11.30pm to provide teas, coffees and cake to new parents, as well as answering any questions they might have.

Mr Wenn will be selling the second-hand uniform on the morning.

Sports Day – Friday 30th June 2017

Bacon rolls and sausage rolls to be provided for the interval, with teas, coffees and soft drinks.
Cooking of the bacon will be shared out between Mrs Dabanovic and Mrs Warner. Mrs Warner will also ask if she can borrow a catering unit to help keep the food warm.

Mrs Brown and Mrs Warner will serve the food in Room 3, whilst Mrs Brown has volunteered her gazebo to be used on the field and playground on the day.

Speech Day – Wednesday 5th July

Teas, coffees, scones, jam and cream will be served on the day. Mrs Brown will bring the food and other bits. £2 for a scone, jam, cream, tea or soft drink. £1 for a cold drink. Volunteers are needed to serve during the interval, and would need to be at the hall at 12.30pm to set up.

No children under school age will be allowed, and only committee members who come to meetings regularly will be allowed reserved seats. Mrs Calcutt to man the door.

Any other business

A PTFA Night Out was suggested, following the success of last year’s. The Swan was considered quite good last time. The date set was Saturday 8th July, with a 7.30pm start.

There was a request from staff regarding the Tuck Shop. It was asked that members of the committee provide items to be sold. These don’t just have to be cakes (homemade/shop bought). Large fruit pots were suggested. Doughnuts have also proved very popular. Money raised from the Tuck Shop will cover the cost of the African Drumming, which was very successful. A rota was suggested for the committee members and parents so that tuck is provided each Thursday. Miss Mannion will provide something for tomorrow.

It was also suggested that a note go out to Year 6 parents, requesting old uniform from leavers for the second-hand shop.

Meeting ended at 8.20pm
The next meeting
will be the AGM in September. Date to be confirmed.
